I was quite surprised to see so many women wearing modest dresses for Oscars (and the after parties). If this trend stick hopefully it will become easier to find modest clothing in the mainstream shops.
Here are my three favorites.

Shailene Woodley
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 264px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsuOyOQaIvl9HLUtaLEJNxL9mRpVcYrVjWGBRd0Z32cc_3E5jCXImaPcfUXyfissT3FVD8wQK3101aTD003otEvqZqLQbX5FlAVFYN-wJ7k1z61Hky-mE_nhX1oMQHfRREJL5aYgSx3g0d/s400/shailene_woodley_oscars.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5714311186408636322" />

Lilly Collins
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 267px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicAmu2NJQuu94aczkvpu2jjG9t0R-Ow3WJadOjQU4CZuF-v2iw1PUlXdzpCV1WEZMPzGZ4hX1CdNprrSEcqKjabP_ji-4S0_6c_8xlsGpGU2enL46mzJ-BzCfw_6x3uwGQnTMLOHPeKrWP/s400/0227-lily-collins-oscars-2012-vanity-fair-monique-lhuillier_fa.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5714311185521588498" />

Miley Cyrus
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 273px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj61amN5ZVnU1kvELt2y-W-u-vJ9dGuanB8ysv_ws4tNG0R60ILO_-EXQh-zqzXre_X5XiYcZmkvFjSKuGqVbVm5sCSkcjcT1C5ztIrSUlUgav58_bFVO9iTLbIqvr9a9fgvjrCMGqOxZ-G/s400/0227-miley-cyrus-roberto-cavalli-vanity-fair-oscars-2012_fa.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5714311182962934754" />

What did you think of the fashion at the Academy Awards?Shevyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13156709350019580358noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4906965819579824983.post-90075376052394070352012-02-22T10:22:00.000-08:002012-02-22T10:38:41.800-08:00New Paint ColorsWe spent President's Day in Home Depot looking at paint colors. My daughter entertained herself with the pamphlets with paint inspiration for kids rooms, she decided that I need to paint her bedroom purple with flowers and fairies. She also informed me that she would like me to bring a bathtub inside her room, there were also some bathroom paint ideas that I really liked as well. I told her she is not getting a bathtub in her room but maybe I will try and find her some new sheets with a similar pattern.
Here are the paint colors that I picked out. I just got started on the painting and I'll give you a hint, it's in my dinning room.

Lantana
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgMdk3eFvvkMwKVXJthPgiCm9iPSXw2em3wIrjl6FvF7D8IaekdoJz6mi-EVw_Mqzt8QZDCOkFB6kq7EoU8oDlJX8A5ADLqEuXG56vIsLm1P9zKcRoCMF_idGup1kEDaKC4GVVjSJpDFz5M/s400/lantana.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5712030090692310290" />

Puddle
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicOocV4o7WA_rTRH-I_WYwNAvb7jj8Tlyp2Faomyq8F55C-DNcW6FdCr2Z7UJ2wUk6Qz_nSTrra4xfmsoLztf5T5hv3nxlZmiXw2r_ZMeNJDgJq8xKksM3uMzplM8fpVVMYRG-EOD5HISj/s400/puddle.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5712030088984621362" />

Silver Leaf
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNChcp3WDOT1UCtdAih8uQfFLEe2Qo31y-DYNoYX-u_WFwZZaIVd98M3-p1LTNKnmE5fc6TkyCRe-7puZ9GNiDR4Y0Yamguty3nvrh6499eISF1dgLlxR0AAhaWZHss8UB9_xtvnHUl4Gm/s400/silverleaf.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5712030093438505250" />

I'll post pictures when I'm all done!

I'm linking up

Shevyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13156709350019580358noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4906965819579824983.post-7511831046560369602012-02-14T13:01:00.000-08:002012-02-14T13:32:17.545-08:00Wig Salon UpdateI'm in the process of getting my wig salon set up. I wanted to a have a display of wigs along one wall and I had these floating wall shelves from our old place that I wanted to put up all together to use for my display.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjK7PS9HwC-ojFlt-5GGEqpH4x5ncj7bAGNeolEfvmVR2O_d3VGF5k-JL7_oT4_xwTMIRjNY8SquVdPrvwAC8NKOEp44KUt21SF1u653XVKoiF9akdRfVAoZeDKnPmT-zI6is5fKjFmft6a/s400/033.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5709103176687293746" />
The top shelf I bought at goodwill for $8 and the other 2 were curbside finds. I wanted the shelves to be very bright pink and I was so excited when I found a hot pink spray paint. I used thin and even coats of it but it wasn't covering the shelves very well, even the white shelf wasn't getting covered properly.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjx4KSj3yTEsImYiFOu-ZRtMM4eMxnXPn3U8NUAzIOyzj7BUkZFdXqbtWS26-nWnwT-AsOH0Ga1dE1cxhyrOL5Rvel9iPjy-uPXIfJ-EAfw5i2k5Wtr6exfBxVWSNxbqdQCjXU4JZyOWyz/s400/035.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5709103188921982658" />

I admitted defeat and headed back to the store to buy another bottle, this time I bought Krylon in Raspberry. Now I know even if the other company has really cool looking colors, that I should just stick with Krylon, it always works. I'm actually really happy with the way they turned out, the hot pink would have clashed with the room and the raspberry color fits just perfect.

before
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5mchM1heADdq4CoOeOiK8ylHRz1znQudOGgka5HT9CuXVLZ7GonCi02dsNEeLbrTsjoJuUSzBmatN9AKO5DCJOHo3cjt2p6jMmoZJVL-baH2VGZtLdVdQeNjYXnhu5wLANpF513SlJEcw/s400/029.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5709103173035558178" />
after
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiVEoTYhbDm706L83H4ACX3_8nAsggOJUAAqvtWq5d1dqahJtysrO8EOeCw2HFqk0dbUPcP7SwhyTGXfolUURyt17JomrpkAhSdgHCA1HlrRQ-P8Ikdis9oG72q6ey3QP-cHfwALq1qUxa/s400/025.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5709103194355742546" />
I know that my posting is kinda all over the place, but I'm just posting about the little things that I fix up as I go along. It is a Museum of American Folk Art Authenticated Reproduction and I love the lines, I knew that if I could even find a piece like this brand new it would cost me at least 5 times what I paid, $75! They were selling it as a vanity along with a mirror that didn't quite match. It seems way too tall to be a vanity to me but maybe that is just because I'm short. Whatever the reason it fits perfectly as a buffet.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVRhP5Oip7eeQyiROXYdTxsSdb1Ey5N8e5yU-XvGngJDI1NB0WP2wGjEgsi1Q3WPu-TIy47SVxuO73eUJaZjaftJVfnhyphenhyphenS99jamQ8gXFZ1VjI9Ggs5RRaHIbnleVc2gkFaZ_1CXbWrPXpV/s400/016.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5708698731567199938" />

I'm not sure if I want to paint the buffet or leave it the way it is. I want to bring more color into the room, but I'm not sure how, with all the furniture being the same mid tone wood. I think now I'm leaning more towards painting my china cabinet and leaving the buffet the way it is. I have been looking for a wide stripe fabric or wrapping paper (white and any other color, I'm not sure what I want yet) to put on the back wall of the china cabinet, I haven't found any yet. I will let you know when I do.
Sorry for the sporadic posting, I hope to get back into posting more regularly.

I'm linking up

<a href="http://www.getouttamyheadplease.com/search/label/Show%20it%20Off%20Mondays"target="_blank"><img alt="you are talking too much"height="125"src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEWMz8GKqHot6kAFBiqghBYBE_KWr1LWi8HFGdM-pGjRnVV7CDgTxtX1w7T_xxWIn3fKBIBSJYFgd-hAr7HbL03YVv6AGisYcFTxd9CRf9PKgC12ayMZCPYJvt4mx47KTqQDkFSR8Z/s1600/showitoff_monday_button.jpg"width="125"/>Shevyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13156709350019580358noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4906965819579824983.post-40347768625904740412012-02-08T20:48:00.000-08:002012-02-08T20:53:53.527-08:00Oprah's Visit to Hasidic BrooklynI know that I haven't blogged in a while, life has been really crazy! The table and chairs I bought when we were still living in our old place. The chairs had off white seats and there was no cushion in them. I bought fabric, foam and batting to recover them from Michael Levine in the Fashion District. I found the Fabric in the clearance section for $3 a yard! I love the color combination of the wood with deep teal fabric. I don't think the table was ever sealed properly after the wood was stained, because when ever I clean the table it looks like some of the stain comes off. One time when we had company over I had a table cloth on the table and I think someone spilled something on the table, because when I took the table cloth off there was that big mark on the table that's a lot lighter then the rest. I would like to refinish the table but I don't have the space to, so someday when we move into a house and I have outside space I will refinish it. Until then I will just have to make do. Whenever we have guests I anyways use a table cloth so I'm o.k. with that.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJZxZWe1EAYC4eOeJdqVXWhJ6wdLuFpvqXsp2_0fV5AzyD35DZ-uuzm-4mmCGjvQ86aPVv46zMt_NvvfJZ1he5LGReEdmUbQUCm1zY1Hzp-6tk_eOGuitL70vIg4HWuIbK_DtyPFxWZETY/s400/013.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5698665000651986882" />
Here is a night time shot. I would also like to eventually refinish the china cabinet but for now I am happy just to have one. Off to the side you can see an extra shelf that I took out because our Menorah and candle sticks were too tall. I don't want to throw it out because I would like to cut them down so that I can have the second shelf on the sides.
I am going to buy a garbage can that will fit inside one of my cabinets because there is no space for a garbage can in the kitchen and it does not belong in the dining room. The space also feels like it needs some more color. I need to figure out how to bring more color to my dining room. Any ideas?Shevyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13156709350019580358noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4906965819579824983.post-6472547301192424532012-01-16T14:16:00.000-08:002012-01-16T14:45:14.867-08:00Living Room ProgressWe finally unpacked the last of the boxes in our living room yesterday. We were waiting to unpack the books until we bought an entertainment center so we could figure out where the bookshelves should go. I wanted a cabinet with doors so that I can close them, out of sight out of mind.
I have seen many people decorate with their books but we have too many books for this amount of space for me to do that. I tried putting the darker color books to the middle of the shelves and moving outwards to the lighter, and I am actually happy with the way it turned out.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirAfb5dBegVmhmUD3VgNzd5yJb02uG9zMnNHHQgNGytH587sEsLljb2nMWIYlzDYvHR54t6W1GFz7JaX35BhTsoQVzt93uzOO1MJxrb3au_hCl7UkDnpxnb8cfCJ6gaTcBjlDGI8hvmjE1/s400/022.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5698359073932180530" />
I simply love my fireplace. It is completely fake and there isn't any space to even put something that plugs in, but it adds so much personality to the room. I am planning on putting up some family pictures (after we take them) above the fireplace but for now I covered an old canvas with some leftover fabric (I recovered my rocking chair with the same fabric). You can't see in the pictures but the fabric has beautiful texture. The flowers and vases are from Ikea.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj26pKhH9Ajs8wP2aEWyibOoVEHXecDHuRe_hYzHsLQNryN-f6HgXY9fc7a9fqGFXsaQxIyQdXZ6XeIoepy15WLhCQCkERY9uwWPFQbf3zBsaWjEdzBZwP8VE1BmaZUVJA_-dmf93ve99To/s400/023.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5698359080385237122" />
The big turquoise pillow I found in the as is section at Ikea and sewed the cover with leftover upholstery fabric from covering my dinning room chairs.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsNq9Wf1eNtroiwIgYw5KNGIyanS776sMtMOAgN9F8TwoAf-F3WN4vT8gNUennO5WBFDSOZIWa4IEmNHlYYBojGIbIm0t7XL4WiACkX_BGbU8Hr1pkc-b-fMEmkjpeN2ueUu7bkxu4mVO-/s400/020.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5698360138611956450" />

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEga_waz29wUPGACNlZfuEBpf84GKnxl56QDhxW5GaEcqbw1XeDSx6jifzisKtbw4hyr3RoYWL6GfrcqmVmWlf_XyhvPVrPu3_zriEEsE4FK_QAr_rU117qRHS51h-9Mg4TGqTxRA_0YrDyf/s400/018.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5698359063066820914" />

I will go into the details about the dinning room in another post, I am still trying to figure out that room. Once I decide what to do with the space behind the couch I will show you that as well. For now I just dumped a bunch of the kids toys over there. All in all I am really happy with how things are looking. It is starting to feel like a real home. I just need to put up pictures and properly set up my office and do like a million other things that I won't think about right now. I want us to all wear pink and brown and maybe cream (I just hope my husband doesn't think it's too girly). I don't usually shop for clothing online, but then again I also don't usually shop for coordinating outfits. Here is what I found for my 2 year old son.

I need help me choosing a bow tie. The daily fashion blog What I Wore by Jessica Quirk is full of outfit inspiration.
4. Katy of No Big Dill sews the most beautiful dresses for her girls.
5. I kept on going back to see what her newest post was until I finally just subscribed to her.Shevyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13156709350019580358noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4906965819579824983.post-11761652437964824382012-01-02T10:14:00.000-08:002012-01-02T10:41:32.728-08:00I know that I haven't blogged in a while but we MOVED!!!

And thank G-d for that, things were getting unbearable in our old apartment. We had a neighbor who smoked marijuana constantly (and probably took many other things as well) and played video games with the sound really loud and he would shout and scream very often. To top it off the manager and owners of the building started to be really nasty to us once we decided we wanted to move and they accused of of stealing their refrigerator when the refrigerator was in fact ours, we asked them to take theirs out when we moved in. The proof the owner gave me that we stole it "it looks exactly like the one that used to be here." Fortunately they dropped it after we told them we had proof that we bought our refrigerator.
Now thank G-d we are in a much better apartment (it really feels like a home and not a tiny little box identical to half the city's inhabitants) with a proper management company and I am so grateful for all the little things. Every few minutes I turn around and find something about my new home that makes me happy. Here are a few, we have windows in our kitchen, real sunlight makes such a huge difference! I can open all the windows in my living and dinning room and I don't feel like I am on display for all my neighbors because they are not walking to their home just inches away from my windows. We have a fake fireplace that adds so much charm (I will take pictures once all the boxes are out of the room). We have an actual hallway, and the last thing I would like to tell you about is also one of the most exciting for me... We have a dishwasher!!! (this is my fist time having a dishwasher since I got married)

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 191px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibTwyAX7Ezv8vnENrotfYxRuIBFrrdCJgFtWFgVLVKaicOC__GR0aEP266gan8fNv0ehWZIgyS2ouxBBI20Mam1Gw5G2Z9gEbytgBuNvqad6RlcS1XfXX4SWX_f3pICRj42uabAtxWkbaO/s400/dishwasher.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5693104339766853346" />
On a completely separate note I just got my new (refurbished) camera in, they couldn't fix my old one (thank G-d for warranties) so I will be able to start posting more normally again and with better photos.

I'm linking up

<a href="http://www.getouttamyheadplease.com/search/label/Show%20it%20Off%20Mondays"target="_blank"><img alt="you are talking too much"height="125"src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEWMz8GKqHot6kAFBiqghBYBE_KWr1LWi8HFGdM-pGjRnVV7CDgTxtX1w7T_xxWIn3fKBIBSJYFgd-hAr7HbL03YVv6AGisYcFTxd9CRf9PKgC12ayMZCPYJvt4mx47KTqQDkFSR8Z/s1600/showitoff_monday_button.jpg"width="125"/>Shevyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13156709350019580358noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4906965819579824983.post-77918300754317611062011-12-16T11:55:00.000-08:002011-12-21T11:08:02.935-08:00Project 52: School DaysI know I'm very late to join Project 52, but I only just got back into blogging.
For details on Project 52 visit Simply Modern Mom's post on it.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 99px; height: 166px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3GqAdeI174rK1Y08peyiignBRtRhDS1HV4AudLhWdboFZRwG_DqAsM-doe-u6YubKvZuQhSJu0k8XtQ9RljjMPfY__Nc7cdPBMmONTiSpM5N3aDpHpdGG2RuPWUWvtLT-gL3QYPCU1Bcl/s400/mail.google.com.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5688660363642631778" />
My son just started going to school 3 days a week and this was his first day. I had to take a picture of my wall decal tree before I pulled that down. I actually let my daughter and her friend pull it down and they had a lot of fun doing it! It can be moved around but I knew it wouldn't survive moving houses.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgS34pQMSs7bbX7L_zyN1VbeYb0nIDnNo4IHOr-dXDmSRu2OkQZ9NsdPG_zgJS7kZq_Qv3S9QuzHgAQo746TMXrPP5y-ir6HlZhpOIkkYO-tHvmyTCXIdV5_bjFHJx1KPI9QwYcxoJ5wh8/s400/001.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5628134732959714546" />
I made the tree myself. I had seen a lot of tree decals on Etsy that were gorgeous, but I didn't want to spend the money and I figured it can't be too hard to make myself. It wasn't, the only hard thing was tracking down solid black contact paper. I bought the solid black contact paper on Ebay then I just drew on the contact paper and cut it out. I paid about $10 for 2 rolls of contact paper shipped and I only ended up using one roll for the tree which makes it about $5 for the tree vs paying about $75 and up to buy it ready made.
It makes me sad that I have to take it down, but at that price once we move into the new place I can always make a new tree!

I'm linking up

<a href="http://www.getouttamyheadplease.com/search/label/Show%20it%20Off%20Mondays"target="_blank"><img alt="you are talking too much"height="125"src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEWMz8GKqHot6kAFBiqghBYBE_KWr1LWi8HFGdM-pGjRnVV7CDgTxtX1w7T_xxWIn3fKBIBSJYFgd-hAr7HbL03YVv6AGisYcFTxd9CRf9PKgC12ayMZCPYJvt4mx47KTqQDkFSR8Z/s1600/showitoff_monday_button.jpg"width="125"/>

Shevyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13156709350019580358noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4906965819579824983.post-74785320576422943362011-12-09T10:27:00.000-08:002011-12-09T11:23:12.822-08:00Golden NightI thought I'd try a dark color on my nails, the last time I went this dark was in elementary school, and these days dark colors can be sophisticated and elegant. I bought some lovely new nail polish to give it a try and I am very happy with the results, I will definitely be wearing this again.

Revlon Black Star was on sale at Walgreens plus you get a $3 coupon when you pay to use on your next purchase making the polish 99c plus tax. If you are looking for some new nail polish at a great price, head over to your local Walgreens, tomorrow is the last day they will have this deal running but when I went in yesterday my Walgreens still had lots of bottles left. You could even give a bottle or two as a holiday gift I love all the Revlon polishes that I have and think they'd make a great gift. The Milani Jewel FX Gold was full price but at $5 a bottle it's still a great price. It's very elegant looking and looks like it cost you way more then $5. Next time I'm gonna try it without any background color.

The pictures don't do it justice, I had to use my cellphone camera because my regular camera just broke (at least I'm not the only one, but why oh why did it happen to my camera, I wasn't even around when it happened...)

I'm linking up

Shevyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13156709350019580358noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4906965819579824983.post-75288151236349285972011-12-08T14:11:00.000-08:002011-12-08T17:07:01.121-08:00Tip Thursday With Kevin James Bennet for PursebuzzIf you don't already watch Pursebuzz on YouTube you gotta check out her videos. I cut pieces of paper to scale (feet to inches) and rearrange until I find the perfect layout. This also helps when moving to a new place. It was a size 3x and I wear a 6 or 8, but I knew the material would cost me more then $1, let alone the zipper, buttons and studs (if I even knew how to put such stuff on and make it look professional). Here is the skirt after it was completed. I added some textured fabric (the closest in color I could find), so that the skirt would be fuller and have more visual interest. I will warn you it takes concentration so this is not something you can do with your toddler playing on the kitchen floor (we made them when her son was sleeping) however it doesn't take very long and the effort is well worth it.

Ingredients

Nonstick vegetable oil spray

1 cup cold water, divided

3 1/4-ounce envelopes unflavored gelatin

2 cups sugar

2/3 cup light corn syrup

1/4 teaspoon salt

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1/2 cup potato starch

1/2 cup powdered sugar

Preparation

Line 13x9x2-inch metal baking pan with foil.
